Some people have asked me what sort of martial arts I practice. Though my love of Ninja Turtles is great, my dojo stories are based on a traditional Samurai style of combat. Both on the battlefield, and in buildings, or close quarters techniques. Yes, we have "ninja" training, but it's only one part of the vast curriculum we follow. We adhere to the Bushido code of ethics, and I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for those shows like TMNT that sparked our imagination as kids.
I also study military history, archeology and the Sengoku period is one of my favorite topics! A lot of people I know growing up, got into martial arts because of the movies or shows they saw as children. What did TMNT inspire you to do in life?
I have a strong belief that our past makes us who we are today. So look back, and try to remember what you loved, what made you cry, what gave you meaning to life, and you might just find you'll understand yourself a bit better. Feel free to share your turtle tales, I'd love to hear them!
**Word to the wise: Don't use markers that are dying, it makes your life a lot more difficult...
